John 3:22–36
John’s final testimony about Jesus: He’s the Bridegroom. He’s Isaiah’s Servant of the LORD, Immanuel. God with us. And as the Bridegroom, He’s come to offer His bride, Israel/Zion, the kingdom.
Jesus is not only the Bridegroom, but also the One who has come down from heaven to speak heavenly things. To bear witness to what He’s seen and heard. To make the Father known. Jesus is our only access to the Father. He’s the only source of eternal life. And that’s only available to those who trust in Him. Those who don’t are still under God’s wrath.
If that’s you, if you have not yet trusted in Jesus, today’s a great day to do that. It starts with recognizing that you are a sinner in need of a Savior and believing that Jesus is the Savior whom God promised. He lived a perfect life and died a sacrificial death. He was raised to life on the third day, proving that He had conquered both sin and death, so that by believing in Him, we can be saved. We can become children of God—not because of anything that we have done, but because of what Jesus did. The Innocent who died for the guilty so that the guilty could be declared innocent.
